What You Can Expect in Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land

As a visitor to Toy Story Land you are meant to feel as if you are a guest in Andy’s Backyard, shrunk down to toy size. Disney certainly hit the mark with this, getting the scale right on everything. There are throwbacks to so many toys and games scattered throughout the land that anyone having grown up in the last few decades would love. Things like Tinker Toys, Dominoes, Cooties, Crayons, Yahtzee, and many more. All the elements of the land are very colorful and really set a positive mood.

Toy Story Land recently added two new attractions to a theme park in desperate need of rides. Being in the middle of a huge transformation right now, I find Hollywood Studios missing attractions that appeal to kids and families. With this being the case, I was so happy to see these two new rides added to the park.

As lines for Slinky Dog Dash were over two hours during our last visit, and this is usually the consistent time frame, make sure you secure a Fastpass in advance. The story behind it is that Andy basically combined two toy sets (Slinky Dog and Dash and Dodge) to make one big roller coaster, and you can see his drawings for the ride throughout the queue which are super cute. It’s not a super intense ride - think Barnstormer - in Magic Kingdom but does have a height requirement of 38”.

Alien Swirling Saucers is a spinning ride with a height requirement of 32”. It’s usually much easier to get on without much of a wait and if you’re there at “Rope Drop” you can just walk right on. It’s a cute ride, which my little ones love but I find it’s kind of reminiscent of your basic hometown carnival ride.

Disney reworked the entrance to the existing Toy Story Mania ride, allowing you to enter now from Toy Story Land. With no height requirement, the entire family can join in on the fun!

Woody’s Lunch Box is a Quick Service restaurant and the concept of it is really interesting. Andy has set up his lunch box in the backyard and it’s now been turned into a restaurant. Expect sandwiches and all the food your mom packed you in your lunch box for school made into chairs and tables, it’s so cool to see it all this way! This restaurant does accept the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and uses one quick service credit. If you’re there for breakfast, a tip is to use a snack credit and purchase a “Lunchbox Pop Tart.” Absolutely delicious and a great way to save a quick service dining credit.

Make sure you take the time to really explore Toy Story Land on your next visit, there is so much to see and explore during your time there!
