Book Review: Love You Too

Is anyone else sick of reading books where Dad is left to ‘watch’ the kids, or where Dad does nothing but play lots of fun games? My husband is an amazing father and he and my daughter have the most amazing bond, but much of their bond comes from day-to-day life, which involves boring day-to-day activities like getting dressed and reading books. This book shows some real-life dad and daughter activities and that’s why I fell so in love with it. ‘Love You Too’ by Alastair Heim is a sweet story about a father and daughter pig spending the day together, told entirely through call and response phrases. You follow them through their day as they cook together, play together and get ready for bed together. This book is just perfect for Father’s Day. In reading this we get to celebrate dads and all of the completely little things that make them great. My daughter loved being able to shout out her line when it was time, and I loved sharing characters who are busy enjoying regular old boring life. Of course, there are some fun and games, but that’s just because being with your favorite person always includes some fun and games.
