Book Review: Alphabet of Alphabets

Recommended for ages 4 - 8 years old

Can we be honest for a minute? I’m so sick of reading books about the ABCs. Of course, the alphabet is the backbone of our language, it’s the most important song we can teach our kids and it’s pivotal to their success in school. Also, it gets real old, real fast. When I first checked ‘Search and Find: Alphabet of Alphabets’ by AJ Wood and Mike Jolly out of the library, I thought it would be another excuse to sing the song over and over again. Instead, my daughter and I were both completely engaged, excitedly flipping through each page and looking at all of the detailed illustrations. This book is an A-Z list of items based on a theme, specific to the letter assigned to the page (For example, D is for Dinosaur or P is for People). I love that the items and characters are not displayed in alphabetical order, helping to encourage letter recognition and making the search and find a little bit more difficult. I bought this book for our own bookshelf before we had even returned it to the library, and it’s been a gift we’ve given multiple times. Each page of this book is a gift that keeps on giving!
