Occasionally libraries will put out boxes of free books, and host book sales which can be the perfect opportunity to score some awesome books for low prices. This book, a favorite of my sisters growing up, has been on my ‘keep an eye out for’ list for years so when I spotted the bright blue cover in a box of free books I sprinted through the children’s department. I knew right away it was a copy of ‘Stellaluna’ and couldn’t wait to bring it home.
In this story, baby bat Stellaluna loses track of her Mom and is adopted by a Mama bird. She lives with her adopted bird siblings learning all about how to be a bird, but once she’s reunited with her Mom she has to relearn all about what it means to be a bat. These adorable illustrations are paired with lots of facts about both bats and birds. During the fall season when bats are represented aplenty, this book provides an awesome opportunity to learn lots of facts about bats. Plus the cute illustrations make learning all those facts extra fun.
