Walt Disney World Parks Reopen

Disney During COVID-19

The magic is back! Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will be reopening on July 11th with Epcot and Hollywood Studios to follow suit on July 15th. Disney has gone above and beyond to ensure all protocols are in place to keep their guests and cast members safe as they reopen their parks. Here is some of what you can expect on your next trip as Walt Disney World Parks reopen!

Prior to the entering any of Disney’s theme parks, Disney Springs and the Ticket and Transportation Center you will have your temperature taken with a touch less thermometer. Those with a temperature over 100.4 will be denied entry. Once your temperature has been established you head to security where you will take all metal items out of your bag and head through the metal detector with your bags. They will only search your bags if you set off the metal detector.

Disney has installed 4,000 new hand sanitizer stations that you will not only find scattered throughout the parks and resorts but also at the entrance and exit to every restaurant and ride.

As you’re walking through the park, you’ll notice arrows on each side of your path reminding guests which side to walk on and which direction to walk. As well, all stores are clearly labeled with entrance and exit indicators so guests are not bumping in to each other and stores and restaurants are only accepting cashless payment.

All quick service dining in the theme parks has been converted to mobile ordering. You will wait in the line and once they call your name, you go to the assigned window to pick up your meal. Menus for all sit down restaurants have changed in that they are smaller to make your ordering experience easier. If you are eating inside, you will find that every other table has been left empty to adhere to social distancing. If you purchase a snack or drink at a kiosk, you must sit down to enjoy your treat, there is no walking around or eating with your mask off.

As you head to the rides, you will find safety marks on the ground in every ride queue; some even have plexiglass walls that will separate guests in the queue even further. Each ride has different protocols in place, but physical distancing is also happening on the rides as well. Rides are being cleaned well often.

For those who take advantage of Disney’s Disabilities Access Service or the Child Swap Service, they are still being allowed; you would enter through the Fastpass line for these.

You will find different areas in each park labeled as “Mask Relaxation Zones” where you can take your mask off while physically distancing.

While the landscape of a Walt Disney World vacation may look different for a while, guests can rest assured that Disney has thought every aspect through of how to keep their parks and resorts even more sanitized than they have in the past.  Disney’s main concern has always been, and will always be- keeping their guests safe.
