Recommended Ages: 4 - 7 years

This newly released book from Scholastic publishing, ‘Fairylight Friends: A Magic Spark’ is such a fun read. My 4-year-old daughter couldn’t stop pointing out all of the colorful details on each page. The beginning of a new series written by Jessica Young, The Fairylight Friends book is part early reader chapter book, and part graphic novel. It’s a combination I’ve never seen executed quite so well. Ruby, Pip and Iris are three fairy friends who are on a quest to discover what special kind of magic they each will have. These five chapters read more like five separate stories, with each character taking the lead role in their own chapter. Marie Vanderbemden illustrated each page so beautifully they helped keep my daughter’s attention and excitement. We had such a fun time reading this new book and have added the release of the second book in this series to our must-read list.
