Chris Britt’s book ‘The Most Perfect Snowman’ is about one of the first snowmen built during the season. Sadly, over time the wind has taken his hat, gloves, scarf and carrot nose. He sits sadly on the sidelines and watches all the other, newer snowmen play but with the help of some neighborhood kids, he gets new accessories! After getting everything he had hoped for and a fun day of play he discovers that it’s not what you have on the outside that means the most.
I love to read stories that are relevant to the season and holiday we are in. I innocently enough checked this book out of the library thinking it’d be a great story to read during the winter to open a discussion about making a snowman. Instead, I found myself full of tears and talking about the importance of kindness and friendship. This book is full of adorable illustrations and had me fooled. Within ten minutes of closing my daughter’s door for bedtime, I had this book ordered and on it’s way to us. Some books just speak to you, ya know? This adorable book is one of those books for me and now it is a new favorite for our bookshelf.
