Book Review: The Foot Book

By Kayla Rochelle July 30, 2024

Perfect for all ages! (Though officially ages 1-3 years)

March is finally here and along with it everyone’s favorite holiday, Dr. Seuss’ birthday! This holiday on March 2nd, while not officially recognized by the federal government is celebrated in schools across the country. Dr. Seuss is considered one of the most influential children’s authors in American history and rightfully so! He is loved by children, authors and scholars alike. His books welcome us to such fun imaginary worlds and are full of rhyming prose, funny creatures, and important life lessons. It’s was so hard to choose which book to highlight for his birthday. Do you pull out the classics like ‘The Cat in the Hat’, or ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish’? Do you find the lesser-known but equally important works like ‘The Butter Book’ or ‘The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins’? I decided my best bet was to pick what we currently love the most, ‘The Foot Book’. There’s something about this book of opposites that has my daughter laughing during every read. It’s mysteriously always a different page that produces the giggles to, sometimes the sick feet, sometimes the furry feet, but strangely never the pig feet. Belonging in Dr. Seuss’ beginning reader series this book is a great choice for little ones who are beginning to read and love a fun challenge.
