Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon With Kids?

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel July 30, 2019

A question I get asked by a lot of clients is which Disney World water park will my children like better; Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? While you really can’t go wrong at either park as both are fun for children of all ages, both have different areas and attractions for different age groups.

If you’re traveling with toddlers and preschool-age children, you’ll find both water parks to have an area for younger children 48” and under. At Blizzard Beach, it’s called Tike’s Peak and will feature small waterslides perfect for this age group, some eye-catching waterfalls, and several splash pads. At Typhoon Lagoon, you will find Ketchakiddie Creek which features a splash pad and wading pool, but also my little one’s favorite—the side by side downhill racecourse.

Typhoon Lagoon has hands down the best lazy river you’ll ever experience in Cross Country Creek. This laid back experience is great for families with children of all ages!

If you’re hitting the water parks with your tweens you’ll definitely want to consider making Blizzard Beach the park to go to as they boast of an area for children over 48” tall that may not be ready for the more intimidating, bigger slides just yet called Ski Patrol Training Camp. It’s a great experience for kids who are at that in between phase of not wanting to be in the little kid section, but who are not quite ready for the intense slides yet.

If you have teens or daredevils in the family, again Blizzard Beach will be the park to visit.  It has the faster, higher rides that are covered by your adventurous members of the family.

Overall, our family with little ones is a fan of Typhoon Lagoon. Between their children’s play area and lazy river, this park is guaranteed to be an experience your toddler and preschooler will never forget!
