Book Review: I Like Myself

By Kayla Rochelle February 7, 2024

Recommended for ages Preschool and up

I like myself. It’s a simple message that all kids need to hear. It’s a huge message that all girls need to hear. When they’re little, kids don’t question how wonderful they are. They love finding differences between them and their friends and they make no judgments about those differences. Unfortunately, the older they get, the harder it is to feel like those differences are what makes them each so uniquely wonderful. The book, ‘I Like Myself’ by Karen Beaumont is a wonderful example of how special each person is. You can have a pig nose, or crazy hair and it shouldn’t change how much you like being you. This board book is perfect for preschoolers but carries a message that will stay in their minds until they aren’t so little anymore.
