Disney World’s Newest Resort Addition Review

Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel August 20, 2019

With the addition of this new building, all guests checking in to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort now check-in at the beautiful, art deco decorated lobby of Gran Destino before moving on to their appointed room throughout the resort. While the theming in this new tower is not overly “Disney,” you’ll see nods to Disney and those Mickey heads throughout the resort. It’s for sure, more of an adult feel resort. You’ll find tv screens on the lobby’s walls playing short six-minute “Destino” animated short films that explain the inspiration for the Tower at large. Make sure to catch it!

The Lower Lobby houses the new Barcelona Lounge. With ample seating and amazing lighting, it’s a place you’d want to relax with a cocktail! Also, past the Lower Lobby, you’ll find the enclosed walkway which leads you back to Coronado’s original building including their quick service, El Mercado de Coronado, and table service restaurant, Maya Grille. It’s a quick, enjoyable walk being in the enclosed walkway, which makes it easy to enjoy shops and dining even if you’re caught in a typical Orlando thunderstorm.

You’ll find the Tower offers a new fitness center which is open 24 hours a day as well as its own Guest Laundry Room, which has a nice tv to entertain yourself while you’re catching up on laundry!

For this visit, we stayed in the tower on the fourth floor. The views from the fourth floor were amazing! Make sure you splurge for the Water View Room which will give you views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks every night right from your room!

All in all, I’d say this resort is a win for couples and families alike! While you’ll be blown away by some of the new technology, including Disney on Demand movies and touchscreen automatic elevators and the unparalleled views from the top of the building; it will be the incredible price tag that may just reel you into staying at this brand new building during your next stay at Disney World.
