The New NBA Experience at Disney Springs

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel September 25, 2019

Replacing the old Disney Quest at Disney Springs is the brand-new NBA Experience. Opened on August 12th, this experience houses two floors of thirteen interactive elements as well as hands-on skills’ challenges, trivia games, numerous photo opportunities and tons of basketball history and information. You’ll be able to utilize your Magic Band here for some of the photo ops and to personalize your NBA Experience.

Tickets are $34 for adults and $29 for children aged 3-9, with little ones under 3 being free, as is the Disney norm. At this price tag, I believe it well worth it if you have a basketball fan in your family.

Once you enter, everyone must sign a waiver to participate and are asked some basic information about themselves which they fill in a computer. Start thinking about a fun nickname you’d like to give yourself which you’ll be asked to enter at this time! I would also suggest wearing sneakers. While it’s not mandatory, it will certainly make the skills’ challenges much more fun for your basketball fan.

Once you’ve stepped into the action you have literally stepped on to a basketball court.. or that is the feeling you will get with the screens and flashing lights all around. The first level exhibits a locker room with players’ jersey and memorabilia. There are a few photo ops, including two with either the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy or the NBA MVP award trophy. Make sure you check out the size of the players’ handprints that have been molded into the basketballs, yours will pale in comparison!

The second level will bring you face to face with many of the “physical skills” action where you can practice your “Dribble,” “Dunk,” and many more. You’ll also find video games consoles and arcade-style basketball games. You can see two different films, head into a small basketball museum or play a myriad of interactive games. Always wanted the opportunity to make that crucial call in an NBA game? Make sure you check out “The Replay” area where you get to decide whether or not an NBA play was a good or bad call!

I would highly suggest this for families with basketball fans or teen sports’ fanatics. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon of downtime or a rainy day. Even if you don’t have basketball fans, it’s sure to spark some fun family competition!
