How To Get The Best Resort Rooms At Disney World

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel December 9, 2020

Getting the best rooms at Disney World does take some research and time but today I’ll share some ways to get the best possible rooms at Disney World for your next stay! There are two ways of getting and attempting to get the room you want at a Disney World resort - you can book a guaranteed room category or you can try to get what you want by putting in a room request before your visit.

A “room category” is going to mean a room with a specific location or special views. Rooms closest to the main buildings or views such as theme park or pool view. These rooms will cost more than the standard rooms at Disney World but when you pay for this upgrade, you are guaranteed to get what you want and will almost be certain to be happy with these upgraded rooms.

Besides booking and paying for an upgraded room, you can put in requests for specific rooms. Examples include specific buildings, ground floor rooms, or rooms closest to transportation. It is incredibly important to note that Disney does not guarantee that they will be able to help you meet this request, but they will do their best to accommodate.

However, something to keep in mind is that special, upgraded rooms are not always the way to go. For example, the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. While the theming of these rooms will certainly appeal to the pirate fans in your groups, the building they are located in are not close to the main building, restaurants or main pool. Many may not like the fifteen-minute walk to get coffee in the morning. It’s important to take every aspect of a room into consideration when booking.

When making your room requests, I suggest narrowing it down to the top two priorities on your list. Our family for example always asks for a ground floor room, with our stroller it’s the easiest way for us to get to our room. Of course, this may change depending on the resort and what we are trying to experience while we are on our vacation.  If we have a theme park view room, I may request a higher floor room to watch the fireworks better.

Once you have decided on your top requests there are three ways to add your room requests to your reservation:

1. By calling Disney and asking the requests be added to your reservations.

2. During the online check-in process.

3. By faxing a room request directly to your resort. (However, there are a few resorts that do not fax requests.)

You may consider calling your resort directly, but in the past few years, Disney has made it almost impossible to connect with your resort and make the request.  For this reason, I would suggest sending a fax, granted your resort allows for these types of requests.

If all of this is making your head spin, consider hiring a Disney specialized travel agent. Their services will be free to you and their knowledge is invaluable in helping ensure your Disney vacation is the dream trip you are envisioning. They may just have even more tricks up their sleeve!
