Top 8 Tips for Your Next Disney Cruise

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel May 26, 2020

A Disney Cruise is one of the most magical vacations you can take with your family.  Here is my list of Top 8 tips for your next Disney Cruise, ensuring it will be even more amazing!

1. When your online check-in date has arrived, complete your check-in process as soon as it opens. Then, make sure to reserve the earliest port arrival time possible; the earlier you get in, the less of a wait you will have. Plus, the more time you will have aboard the ship! Make sure you are ready to go at midnight EST on your scheduled check-in date, make sure you have your login and password handy the day before to make sure the process smooth sailing!

2. Even if you’re not sure how much your children will go, I always highly suggest advance registering for the kids’ club. I can guarantee you your kids are going to love the clubs and will probably want to spend most of their cruise there! When you complete your online check-in, you can also register your kids for the clubs. Then, when you get to the check-in desk on embarkation day, you can pass by everyone who is still doing their paperwork!

3. Make sure to pre-book your special Disney meet and greets. You will be able to reserve tickets for experiences like Frozen Meet and Greet (with Elsa and Anna) and the Princess Gathering (with Ariel, Cinderella, Tiana and Belle). However, if you don’t book online don’t worry; you may still be able to book them once you arrive onboard as Disney puts a few reservations aside for this scenario.

4. If you’re sailing on a Disney cruise for seven days or more, you could also participate in a special Disney Junior Character Breakfast. Taking place in the amazing Animator’s Palate restaurant, it lasts about 45 minutes and you’ll have the pleasure of Mickey Mouse, Jake, Sophia and Doc McStuffins visiting your table!

5. When boarding, have your children wear their swimsuits under their clothes or have them in your carry on bag. Upon arriving on the ship, they will be among the first to enjoy AquaDuck, AquaDunk, or the other onboard water activities. If you do this first thing, you’ll pretty much have the rides to yourself, especially if you’ve gotten one of the earliest boarding times!

6. You can reserve both Pack’ n Plays and strollers for free. Guest Services will have both on a first-come, first-serve basis so make sure you get this done early on your first day. You’ll be charged a deposit fee that is removed when you return them.

7.  Make sure to watch the Cruise Director TV show each day to stay informed by tuning your stateroom TV to the daily recorded show. It will be about a 10 -15 minute video, beginning at 5 am that repeats all day long; filled with helpful information to make the most of your day.

8. And my favorite tip! In your first few days, you might be a bit disoriented. When you leave your stateroom, the globe on the carpet will point the way for you! If you walk toward “north” on the globe, you will be heading towards the front of the ship.  Kids love to oversee directions around the ship this way!
