I’m always on the hunt for a great book of poetry that will engage my daughter. Because poems are often written in prose, the nuances of speech can sometimes be difficult for my 4-year-old to understand. I know that the beauty of a poem is not lost on her, however, I personally think it’s so important to keep introducing her to a variety of styles of poetry to see which one may speak to her the loudest. Enter, ‘Sing a Song of Seasons: A Nature Poem for Each Day of the Year'.
This book is big. I’m talking big, heavy, coffee table style and for a very good reason. This book offers one poem for every day of the year. Some of the poems are short, just a line or two. Some of them are long and full of wordplay. All of them are printed atop gorgeous illustrations specific to the time of the year. This is a book that would be cherished for years during family reading time. Kayla is a wife, mother and beach-loving book reader.
