Hilton Head Island is filled with amazing things to do! With over 60 miles of bike riding trails, white sand beaches and tons of ice cream shops, children are guaranteed to be in heaven. Check out the top seven things to do on Hilton Head Island with children!
1. The Beach
Acclaimed for its sandy, clean beaches, I believe this is hands down one of the nicest beaches in the US to travel with kids. With no rocks and easily diggable sand, children can spend hours making sandcastles. The waves are small and the water is shallow for a great distance out, allowing your little ones to enjoy the warm ocean water in a safe depth.
2. Mini Golf
There are many mini-golf locations scattered throughout the island. During our latest stay, we were able to try a few different locations but found our favorite to be Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf. With two beautifully landscaped courses all pirate-themed, both rookies and the more skilled mini golfers will have a great time!
3. Resort Activities
Make sure to check the resort you are staying for their list of activities. Our resort offered a slew of fun things for our children to partake in, as do all of the main resorts on the island. Pool bingo, tie-dye t-shirt making, trivia, and of course, make sure you take plenty of dips in your resort pool!
4. See the Dolphins
There are many boat rental companies that will take you out exploring the waters of the island in search of wildlife. We were able to rent a private charter with an amazing, informative captain at a very reasonable price at Island Explorer. With little ones, we opted for the one-hour Discovery Tour which was the perfect amount of time for children in this setting. We were able to see dolphins, manatees, otters and many different birds.
5. Rent bikes
There are companies all over the island where you can rent bikes, including at many resorts. Biking is the most loved form of transportation on Hilton Head and you will see people all over enjoying the sixty miles of bike trails. With all types of bikes available from tandems, training wheels, adult with attaches kids seats, tricycles, there is a bike type for every level of bike rider. This is a must for your children on their visit!
6. Fishing and Crabbing
Most resorts on the bayside offer fishing pole and crab net rentals with instructions. Definitely spend some time checking it out and letting your little ones try their hand at catching one of the many crabs!
7. Swing in a Hammock
This may sound silly but just swinging in a hammock was one of my kid’s favorite activities during our recent visit. They loved the time of slowing down with mommy or daddy and just chatting for a few minutes as we rocked and gazed up at the trees and enjoyed the sounds of nature all around us.
