Recommended Ages: 6 - 8 years

I am a sucker for beautiful illustrations, which makes it no surprise that as soon as I saw some of Yuval Zommer’s work I was hooked. Zommer is the illustrator and creator of a series of books called ‘The Big Book of…’. These books are big, full of awesome information organized by classification, and full of gorgeous depictions. I love the combinations of factual information with whimsical art.

There are a few different books available in this series, Big Books of Blooms, Blue, Beasts and Bugs. We’ve got all of them from our local library and can’t get enough! In this book, ‘Big Book of Birds’, Zommer showcases birds of all types across sixty-four pages. Along with these books, there are large sticker books available, which would be the perfect companion activity for a picnic in the park! These books are ones that we can learn from and will love for many years to come.
