Let It Go...

Continuing our thought from last time - we get hurt, we forgive but don’t forget. Now what?

Doesn’t 'not forgetting' mean that we are holding onto grudges? I mean, every time we meet that person or we find ourselves in similar circumstances, won’t we “remember” what had happened? Won’t that make matters worse? 

The simple answer is No. 

The premise of forgiving IS that you voluntarily surrendered your attachment to that person/situation. But, how? 

If it helps, think of it as you looking into the situation from up above. 

As long as you are angry/hurt/frustrated/holding grudges there will be a sort of wired connection between you and the other person. 


Unplug it. 


As you watch from above, unplug those connections, let the wires fall to the ground FROM YOUR SIDE... we don’t care if the other person does the same thing (they’ll do it in time too - but that’s not for us to worry about). 

Congratulations.. you have successfully LET GO! 

Don’t worry, you only unplugged the wires of hurt, frustrations, anger, etc. The wires of friendship, love, affection are all still intact.  

The issue here is, that - we are mortals. We will keep plugging these wires back in.. and we will need to remind ourselves to keep unplugging them over and over again. Only until it becomes a habit though. Then it becomes easy - I promise!

So, this process of letting go can successfully be applied to your relationships with your spouse, children, parents, friends, job, people at the job... and YOURSELF!
