Elizabeth, please tell us a little about yourself.

I live in Brooklyn with my wonderful husband, Eric (who is the chef of our sister restaurant Inatteso Pizzabar) our three kids (ages 13, 16 and 19) and two cats. I am trained as a pastry chef and have worked at several upscale restaurants in the city but sort of fell into the front of the house side of things after our first child was born. I bake every morning at Inatteso Café and nowadays really enjoy making simple desserts and pastries like muffins and cookies. I truly enjoy serving our customers and hope to brighten people’s mornings.

Where does the name Inatteso Cafe come from?

The phrase "Inatteso" loosely translates to “the unexpected” in Italian.  During the concept phase of the café and its sister restaurant Inatteso Pizza Bar back in 2007, we often discussed how we wanted to draw customers in with the traditional café and pizza restaurant concepts, but provide them with an “unexpected” experience and selections not commonly associated with the two. By offering fresh-baked pastries, handmade pastas, lighter style Italian inspired food and drink, we are always hoping to over-deliver a positive “unexpected” experience above the traditional café and pizza restaurants of the norm.

Which is your hottest selling drink? What’s your personal favorite?

Our bestselling drink is the oatmilk latte. My personal go-to is an iced almond latte or a macchiato depending on my mood.

Where do you source coffee and tea from?

Our coffee and espresso are from La Colombe. Our teas and wellness drinks are from Rishi Tea & Botanicals

How has the pandemic affected you?

Tourism has always been an important part of our business, the lack of visitors to the area has presented additional challenges to us, and many other independently run businesses.

How can our neighborhood support you?

The neighborhood has been wonderful so far and very supportive. If everyone can continue to make a point to patronize independent small businesses like ours, and others in the neighborhood, I’m confident we will survive and thrive when better days finally come around.

When you are not busy with work, what can we find you doing?

Spending time with the kids, cooking, baking, and catching up with friends.

Is it possible for our readers to order online?

Yes, customers can definitely order online on our siteFor now, we are pick-up only but will be adding delivery in the near future.

Thank you!
