Be Our Guest Modified Dining Experience

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel December 1, 2020

While 'Be Our Guest' may look a little different at first glance, the dining experience is still superb! This is the only restaurant in Walt Disney World right now with a surprise character, the Beast!

As you walk up to the castle for your meal you will notice directional markings on the bridge entryway to ensure guests are staying to their side and walking one way in and out. There are physical distancing marks labeled in the hallways as well, but we didn’t even need to use them as we were greeted immediately upon our arrival and taken to our seats.

There are three dining rooms you can be seated in for your meal; The Grand Ballroom, The West Wing, and The Castle Gallery. On this visit, we were seated in The Castle Gallery, which is inspired by the larger than life figures of Beast and Belle dancing and showcases large pieces of art taken from Belle’s library.

Currently, the only available meals available are a prix fixe meal for lunch and dinner. Pricing for adults is $62 and children is $37. Once seated, we were able to access our menu via the QR code on the table. I ordered the Be Our Guest Private Label Wine Sampler which showcased house wines, a rose, white and red. All of them were great!

For my appetizer, I indulged in one of my favorites, French onion Soup with gruyere, provolone and a toasted crouton. It did not disappoint, probably one of the best French onion soup I’ve ever tasted! Children will find a fun fruit and cheese plate as an appetizer! Our main course was a perfectly cooked center-cut filet mignon with Robuchon Yukon potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and a red wine glaze. It was packed with flavors and such a luxurious meal surrounded by such opulence in the Art Gallery dining room. Children will find the usual favorites on their menus such as macaroni and cheese and chicken fingers.

Save room for dessert! The dessert trio, which consisted of a lemon jam macaron, a white chocolate “chip” cup with the "Grey Stuff" (a mixture of cookies and cream panna cotta) and a dark chocolate truffle was adorable and delicious. The macaron was lemony, which was a nice contrast to the heaviness of the “Grey Stuff” in its creaminess. The children’s dessert was a hit! One of my favorite aspects of signature dining at Walt Disney World is their immersive dessert experiences for children. This instance was an opportunity to decorate their “Chip” white chocolate cup with edible paints provided and then fill it themselves with their “Grey Stuff.” Adorable! Overall, a wonderful way to end our meal.

While the meal and ambiance were certainly worth the meal’s price tag in Magic Kingdom, the best part was the visit from the Beast! While this is not marketed as a character dining experience and it is never guaranteed he will make an appearance, the Beast has been making the rounds of Be Our Guests since their modified dining reopen. After his introduction and fanfare, the Beast walks through the dining rooms. While he didn’t stop for selfies at any of the tables directly as I’ve seen with other character dining restaurants currently open, he bows and waves at guests. It was still a huge surprise and treat to see him here! We managed to get some great pictures and videos with him!

If you have the chance to snag a dining reservation, you will not be disappointed!
