Holidays at Magic Kingdom 2020

By Jade Monzo, Owner, Rope Drop Travel December 8, 2020

The holidays are in full swing at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and while things may look a bit different this year, not one bit of the holly, jolly spirit has been lost. Here are some of the things you can look forward to on your visit!

1. Castle Projections: You’ll be mesmerized by the amazing light show that transforms Cinderella’s Castle at dusk! These cheerful holiday projections rotate every fifteen minutes so it will take about an hour to see all four.

2. Themed Character Cavalcades: This is probably one of my personal favorites about Magic Kingdom right now, the pop-up parades. With no published schedule of when these will take place, you will only know one is about to take place when you hear the seasonal music and are scooted off to the side of the "road". The surprise is wonderful! There are a few different parades including Mickey and his gang, the princesses and of course Santa Clause himself makes an appearance during one.

3. Main Street Philharmonic: You will be filled with holiday spirit when you hear the marching of the Toy Soldiers, followed by the beautiful instrumental playing of the Main Street Philharmonic. Again, with no set schedule - you’re in for a true surprise when these start!

4. Seasonal Décor: Magic Kingdom is still decked out with their usual seasonal décor. As soon as you pass the ticket gate and see The Walt Disney World Railroad decorated, you know you’re in for some holiday grandeur! Details abound up and down Main Street U.S.A. and of course, the iconic Christmas tree is a showstopper as soon as you walk in.

You’ll also be delighted by the small touches throughout the park and you can still expect your favorite overlays on some of the rides. Yes, the Jungle Cruise has become the “Jingle Cruise!”

5. Holiday Trolley: The Dapper Dans, Disney’s barbershop quartet, are still to be found aboard a horse drawn trolley, delivering their harmonious holiday melodies as they head right down Main Street U.S.A. Prepare to sing along to your favorites!

6. Seasonal Treats: You’ll be able to satisfy your sweet and savory tooth with all of the holiday inspired food and beverages to be had throughout the park. My personal favorite, and worth the wait should there be a line (which there will be, it is that good!) is the Twice Upon a Cupcake at the Main Street Confectionary. Cut into it down the middle to find the hidden Mickey!

7. Pop Up Characters: If you want to see a pop-up character that you will be able to take a physically distanced selfie or photo with, head over to the Tomorrowland stage. While never guaranteed, these festive characters, in their holiday best have been showing up throughout the day for photo ops!

With so  much still in place, you’re guaranteed to not lose one ounce of the holiday magic at Magic Kingdom this year!
