If you’ve been reading my reviews for awhile, you know what a sucker I am for a children’s book with gorgeous illustrations, so when I found Audrey Smit on Instagram, it’s no surprise I jumped right over to find her book series. 'The Adventures of Lily Huckleberry' books (there are currently three total) follow a young girl as she travels the world, learning all about the culture and customs of the country she finds herself in. To best capture the spirit of the countries, the authors visited each one and created illustrations pulled right from moments during their trips. In the latest book, ‘The Adventures of Lily Huckleberry in Mexico’ Lily visits Mexico and meets so many new friends while trying to help unite her Monarch butterfly friend with the family they lost during migration. When this book first arrived my husband and daughter got right to reading it together. As soon as the last page was finished my daughter announced, "This book was so good!" and my husband declared, "Grab my phone so I can order the rest of the books in this series!". So if you don’t want to take my word for how amazing this book is, go ahead and take theirs.
