I am totally that Aunt. Every birthday, holiday, or other gift-giving occasions, I am on the hunt for the perfect book. I love to find books that are probably not known to the gift reviewer, and I especially love books that have an important, moral, lesson, or story. That’s why when I heard about the latest book in the Bears for Cares collection, I was so excited. “Jenny the Chimpanzee” is the story of human evolution as told by a chimpanzee named Jenny. In the book, Kay encouraged young readers to learn about wildlife and how interconnected we are with our animal friends. Lotus Kay is a teen writer who has been published in many publications. I love supporting young writers and in doing so proving to my own younger nieces and nephews that you don’t have to wait to be a grown-up to make changes in the world. The Bears for Cares series is a campaign that started as a project of the Jane Goodall Institutes ‘Roots & Shoots’, a youth service program. In the campaign, each book in the series is paired with a stuffed animal making it the perfect all-in-one gift. I can think of nothing more special than the gift of sharing the love of animals.
