Fairy Bread Sandwiches

By LeeAnne, Creator, Raising Veggie Lovers August 10, 2021

Fairy bread is a simple, three-ingredient treat that the kids of New Zealand and Australia grow up enjoying. All you need to make it is white bread, butter, and hundreds and thousands of rainbow-colored round sprinkles.

Traditionally, fairy bread is cut into triangles and served, but I like to change it up by making them into cute finger sandwiches! They’re easy enough for your kids to assemble, and they’ll have as much fun eating them as they will making them.

Ingredients:

  • sliced white bread
  • butter, room temperature
  • sprinkles (Small, round rainbow sprinkles are typically used, but any sprinkles will do.)

Tools:

  • small cookie cutters

Step 1: Liberally spread butter on a slice of bread.

Step 2: Cut the crust off of the bread, then cut the bread in half for a rectangle sandwich, or in quarters for two square sandwiches.

Step 3: Use a small cookie cutter to cut a shape in one piece of bread if making a rectangle sandwich, or in two pieces of bread if making square sandwiches.

Step 4: Add sprinkles to a small bowl or plate. Then, dip the buttered side of each bread into the sprinkles.

Step 5: Assemble the sandwiches by placing the bread with a cut out shape on top of a solid piece of bread. Enjoy!
