Three reasons to like, Walrus in the Bathtub. One, the illustrations are bright and full of detail. Two, its storyline goes full circle in a charming way that will capture your child’s attention. Three, the walrus in the bathtub.

This silly picture book is a great read for anyone looking for a light-hearted laugh. A refreshing read, uniquely written in list form that may later have your child creating lists of their own. When a family moves into a new home they are excited about the prospects this house has to offer but are quickly flabbergasted when they discover a walrus in the bathtub. We enjoyed analyzing the illustrations to get more out of the storyline. In particular, looking at the facial expressions of all the characters. We learn that one sibling thinks the idea of the walrus is fantastic right from the start, while the other family members need some time to come around.

With April Fools Day, right around the corner, this silly book could open the door to some great prank ideas. Another book to pair with April Fools is the newly released picture book, Mr. Maloof written by Danielle Marietta. This charming story is about an old man who is reminded of the goof he used to be as a kid and the importance of staying young at heart.
