Recommended Ages 2-6
Happy Earth Day! I’m excited to discover a resource for preschoolers gently introducing little ones to taking care of Earth. Welcome to the scene, Bondi & Poppy, a Koala who likes to cuddle, and a California Bear who likes hugs. Both loveable creatures have been affected by forest fires, brought together by friendship and a mutual vision to heal the planet they connect readers from all corners of the world. While reading we see the effects of forest fires, and those who are helping, and get inspiration on how they can be responsible humans!
I would recommend this story for ages 2-5, but as with most books, you can stretch the age range. With these bright beautiful illustrations, creative design and lovable creatures, this book would make a good addition to your school and home library.
If you’re celebrating Earth Day, there’s no time like the present, you can start by going on a nature walk and bringing a journal to observe the wildlife around you. Draw a picture, write it out or take a picture and discuss with your children what they see. Just like Bondi & Poppy discuss the need for trees to create their home you can compare to what other animals, birds, and bugs you see and what they need to survive, and what they do to help the planet! You can also check out resources like PBS Kids for more ideas.
